Technical

By using these relay services, you accept the following:

• The services are offered for free on a best effort basis. While high up time and availability are anticipated and likely, no guarantees are offered.
• Owner reserves the right to discontinue the service generally or for select participants at their own discretion, with or without advance notice.
• Sites causing excessive server load, are difficult to reach, etc. can be removed.
• Sites found failing the requirements outlined below fill be blocked.

Participant Requirements

Sites using these relays must adhere to the following requirements.

Please do not join if your site does not meet these criteria; we’re simply not going to be a good match. The relay is privately funded and I am unwilling to help with distributing violating content. My house, my rules. I do not actively monitor sites for violations, but action is taken when receiving complaints or I wonder how a swastika icon ends up on my instance.

Required Moderation

Sites are expected to have moderation standards and disallow and remove violating contents. Free speech activist sites will likely not feel good about this and should not use this relay. Sites participating are expected to disallow and moderate content from the following categories outlined below. It’s okay you feel different about this - but please don’t use the relay in case your site emits content like that and you do not plan to do anything against it if it happens.

• Any content which is illegal in Germany.

Please do not join if your moderation standards do allow such content.

Content which is illegal in Germany

German law bans a few things, most of which are covered in the bullets above. If you adhere to these rules, you’re going to be fine.

As I assume few are accustomed with it, the following topics may come as a surprise and should be briefly considered. I am not a lawyer and am generally fine unless you might get me in a situation where I need a lawyer on my own. Please do not join in case your instance allows any of the content listed here:

• holocaust denial⁴⁵
• pornography⁷, anything related to child pornography⁸
• praising severe crimes⁹
• public calls to commit certain crimes¹⁰⁴
• Nazi symbols unless used in scholary contexts¹¹ (And I hate to scan the emoticons for swastika icons.)
• public harassment of politicians¹²
• instructions to criminal offences¹³
• glorifying of violence¹⁴
